PUPPY DIARY - Litter 2
29 July 2006 - Sarnia went into pre-labour with lots of puffing and panting and nesting action in the whelping box. A sleepless night as Sarnia prepared to give birth.
30 July 2006 - At 9.50am Sarnia had the first puppy. The last puppy was born at 2.40pm and joined his brothers and sisters in the whelping box with Sarnia. We have 8 beautiful babies and a very tired Sarnia (and me!!!!)
31 July 2006 - The pups and Sarnia are all checked by the vet and all proclaimed to be in excellent health.

3 August 2006 - The pups are all thriving, with all having healthy weight gains. The pigment is starting to develop in the yellow puppies. Sarnia is a devoted mother and has settled well into motherhood.

6 August 2006 - Hard to imagine, but the pups are now a week old and continue to develop in leaps and bounds. They are now moving around the whelping box a lot easier and can be quite vocal in their attempts to get to the best nipple for feeding.
9 August 2006 - The pups are realising that they have back legs that do not need to be dragged around after them. The legs are now being drawn up under them as they "lurch" around the whelping box. We are now waiting for their eyes to begin opening.

13 August 2006 - The pups are now 2 weeks old and doing really well. Their eyes are just beginning to open. Although a bit wobbly, they are trying to walk.
18 August 2006 - The pups are going ahead in leaps and bounds. They are now getting around very well on their legs, their eyes are open and they are beginning to play with one another. At times, they can be quite vocal. Teeth are also starting to come through.

20 August 2006 - The puppies are now 3 weeks old and have been moved into the inside puppy pen where they have more room to stretch their legs and play.

23 August 2006 - With sun on the deck this morning, it was time for the pups to have their first experience of the outdoor world. They spent a couple of hours on the deck playing and exploring.
3 September 2006 - The puppies are now 5 weeks old and developing in leaps and bounds - running, playing and developing their own little personalities.

21 September 2006 - The pups are nearly 8 weeks old and will be heading off to the new homes and the start of their new lives this coming weekend. I am sure that I will be shedding a few tears but know that the time has come for them to start the rest of their lives.
23/24 September 2006 - A weekend of mixed emotions as the puppies left the nest to begin their new adventures.
I now wish them all the best of luck with their new families and look forward to the updates.
