HOW MY OBSESSION BEGAN!!

My love of Labrador Retrievers began in 1996 when I approached a friend about her recommendation
for a breeder of Labrador Retrievers as I had finally convinced Mum and Dad that we should get a dog.

After contacting the late Frank Keys (Waintree Kennels) for a puppy, I was put in contact with Carol
Quinn (Ballydoon Kennels) and was lucky enough to call at the right time. A litter had just been born
and Carol agreed that I could choose my first labrador (a black male) from this litter.
GUINNESS came home and changed my life forever.

We joined an obedience club for puppy pre-school and later obedience classes. Guinness then
showed some interest in Flyball and after training we entered out first competition in 1998.

In 1999, Mum let me know that she wanted another dog (a yellow male). Carol put us in contact
with Val and Geoff Jones (Simballoch Kennels) and we were lucky to be allowed to welcome
QUIGLEY into our lives.

The plan had been for Mum to keep Quigley when I moved out of home and took Guinness.
This was not to happen as he soon attached himself to Guinness and myself and it was a fait
accompli that he would move out with me also.

In 2002 I decided that I would like to get another and SARNIA joined the family after talking to
Keith Prior (Waintree Kennels) and finding that he had a puppy available.

Sarnia and Quigley were compatible should I decide to start breeding down the track and in 2005
the first QUIGSAR litter of 9 puppies was born. This was followed by a second litter in 2006 (8 puppies) and REILLY stayed with us. Sarnia has had her third and last litter in 2008 and YARAH will hopefully provide the next generation of Quigsar Labradors.

My aim is to breed puppies of sound temperament that are raised in a home environment.
All breeding dogs have been hip and elbow xrayed and have current annual eye clearances.
